Uxbridge welcomes the13th annual fantasy of lights display

UXBRIDGE: If you walk-through Elgin Park at nighttime, you’ll notice multiple displays lighting up the park. On December 5th, the local group, the Uxbridge Optimist club, organized the Fantasy of Lights display in Uxbridge’s own Elgin Park. There is also a Holiday Shopping Trail in Downtown Uxbridge, along Brock Street, for locals to enjoy this holiday season. These displays and the shopping trail were created to celebrate the holiday season, and are available for residents and locals to enjoy until January 2nd. “It’s a safe way for people to get out to do something festive,” explained Uxbridge Councillor Pamela Beach. According to Councillor Beach, the Fantasy of Lights display has always been popular among Uxbridge residents, and the Uxbridge Optimist Club expects it to be even more popular this year. Councillor Beach said a few downtown businesses have decorated their shops with Christmas displays, including two interactive windows. A number of local businesses, and residents living in Uxbridge, have created holiday themed displays in the windows and homes to light up December. To be exact, 13 businesses have decorated their windows, in accordance with the number of years the Fantasy of Lights has been running. From Thursdays to Saturday, until the 19th of December, kids and adults alike can wave through the window at Santa and Mrs. Claus. They will be standing in the window of H BEE Architectural Design, located on Brock Street West. The display will be running from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the evening. There was a Nutcracker window display set up at The Bridge Social and Blue Heron Books, from December 9th to the 11th. The shopping trail was created to encourage people to complete their Christmas shopping at local businesses in the area. You can safely browse and look through shop windows from a distance while you’re with family. They’re also asking residents to post photos of themselves and their family while along the trail and hashtag them with #HolidayTrailUxbridge.
