KAWARTHA LAKES: Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) trustees heard an update on the board’s COVID-19 related initiatives at a meeting on Tuesday, October 26th.

“Extracurriculars and learning are up and running. We’re in full swing. There’s no question about that,” TLDSB director of Education Wes Hahn stated. “I think every month we get closer to normalcy.”

The school board is taking a cautious approach by limiting the number of visitors in schools. But, outdoor events are now open for spectators.

“We did talk, within TLDSB, about allowing spectators to attend outdoor extracurricular events. Even though those seasons are coming to an end now, we do know it will start up again in the Spring,” Director Hahn said.

However, indoor events will still remain closed to spectators for the time being. Director Hahn added he hasn’t heard from the province yet when visitors will be able to attend board meetings in person again.

One trustee questioned what the current vaccination status is of TLDSB staff.

Superintendent Traci Hubbert responded, stating 87 percent of staff are fully vaccinated.
