Scugog council thanks crossing guards for their service

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Township of Scugog recognized their crossing guards for the work they do for the community, at a meeting on Monday, June 5th.

The presentation was made as part of School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week.

“They serve our community and keep our kids safe, in all kinds of weather, all kinds of challenges, and sometimes [with] some crazy drivers. We truly appreciate the fact they do the work they do,” Mayor Wilma Wotten said.

As well as making remarks, council members invited several crossing guards to come and stand in front of council members to be recognized.

“It’s not an easy job, but it’s a very, very important job,” Carol Coleman, Scugog’s Director of Public Works and Infrastructure Services, said. “So, I’d like to say thank you.”
