Roy E. Carter Playground Scheduled for Replacement

COURTNEY McCLURE, The Standard

BLACKSTOCK: The Township of Scugog will replace the Roy E. Carter Park playground in Blackstock.

According to the director of public works for the Township, Carol Coleman, the existing playground equipment is about 23 years old and is showing signs of wear.

The new playground will provide additional swings, refreshed equipment and an engineered wood fibre play surface.

The benefits of the new playground include engagement and accessible features, to provide greater play opportunities for the community.

Ms. Coleman added, the new equipment would create a gathering place for children and adults to make new friends and act as a way to improve health by enjoying outdoor activities.

Construction is expected to start sometime during the autumn of 2023.

Residents can go to My.Scugog.ca to review playground options and let us know their favourite design and colour scheme. The survey will be available until March 13th, 2023.

Further updates and information will be provided through the Township’s website, at My.Scugog.ca.
