Port Perry Walk for Dog Guides a success thanks to you

Thank you for your support of the Port Perry Walk for Dog Guides. Thanks to you, our community, businesses, sponsors and our volunteers, we expect when the final numbers are announced in July we will have raised in excess of $27,000 which should put us in third out of 300+ walks across Canada. Thank you. Donations are still accepted until the end of June.

On July 1st the Port Perry Walk for Dog guides has been invited to walk in the July 1st Canada Day Veterans parade in Port Perry. We start at 10 a.m. behind Port Perry High School and end in Palmer Park. A leisurely 1 km walk down Queen Street in Port Perry. Downhill. The weather forecast promises ideal weather. Bring your furry friends and try out the new lure course in Palmer Park presented by DogLoversDays. Enjoy a short, 30-minute Dragon boat tour around Lake Scugog courtesy of Scugog Dragon Boat. Free pizza and BBQ lunch. Music everywhere. And so much more Canada Day in beautiful Scugog.

Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a national charity which was created by the Lions of Canada. Its mission is to empower Canadians with disabilities to navigate their world with confidence and independence by providing a Dog Guide at no cost and supporting them in their journey together. Since 1983, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides (LFCDG) has been providing specially trained Dog Guides to men, women and children from coast to coast. LFCDG is the only school in the world with seven distinct and unique programs. In addition to training Dog Guides for people who are blind or visually impaired, Dog Guides are also trained to meet the needs of Canadians with hearing, medical and physical disabilities, epilepsy, autism, diabetes and for professional agencies assisting people in traumatic situations.
