Police looking into discriminatory posters


SCUGOG: Durham police (DRPS) are investigating two reported incidents of posters with discriminatory messages toward immigrants. According to police, on Tuesday, October 15th, a poster was found on the Memorial Cenotaph in front of the Township of Scugog building on Perry Street in Port Perry. The poster used language that was discriminatory towards immigrants. Police reported a similar poster was found in Newcastle on Thursday, November 7th. That poster was located on the doors of the Diane Hamre Recreation Centre. “The posters look similar and had a similar discriminatory message directed towards immigrants. Investigators believe the incidents could be connected,” read a DRPS release.
