Letter to the editor: Thank you!

Dear Editor

The volunteers and clients of Operation Scugog extend a sincere thank you, upon receiving all the wonderful toys, gifts, food, gift cards and hampers donated during our Christmas campaign this year. Because of you, 73 families and 131 singles and couples had a merrier Christmas. The weather was on our side on hamper day at Victory Christian Centre. We could not have done it without our many dedicated volunteers. Thank you to McDonald’s and Hank’s Pastries for their donation of coffee, muffins and donuts to start our day. Thank you also to Victory Christian Centre for preparing lunch for all the volunteers and allowing us to use their facility. Thank you to Sandy O’Hare the “Hoodie Elf,” with the support of her Facebook friends and the Focus on Scugog, who collected 152 hoodies, 4 winter coats, hand knit items, blankets, shirts, socks and sundry items. Drop off locations for food, toys and gifts were supported by BMO, Canadian Tire, Emmerson Insurance, Food Basics, Foodland, Gus Brown, McDonald’s, RBC, Scotiabank, Shopper’s Drug Mart, Vos’ Independent and Walmart. Thanks to Herrington’s, Foodland and Vos for accepting cash donations on behalf of Operation Scugog. The volunteers of Operation Scugog wish to express our thanks to those who adopted families and the many groups, individuals and businesses that contributed food, gifts, gift cards, money and time to support our hamper day. We are in awe of the spirit of our community and surrounding areas at Christmas time and throughout the year. Sincerely, Karen Teed Christmas Campaign Coordinator
