Letter to the Editor: Conservation

It is not necessary for the Ford government to destroy our Conservation Authorities to build more homes, faster in Ontario.

As an alternative approach, the Ford government should be working with its municipal partners, to help fund and accelerate new or expanded infrastructure required to accommodate growth. They should also be working with these partners, to amend Official Plans to allow for higher densities on lands already set aside for new residential development. It took decades to create our Conservation Authorities, following the destruction caused by Hurricane Hazel in 1954, and they are worth saving.
