A small group of people met to remember the precious 215 Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nations Children from the Kamloops Indian Residential School. We received Uxbridge Township permission Friday night at 9 p.m. and arranged to meet on Sunday morning June 6th. We hung orange ribbons and t-shirts along Brock Street, to acknowledge, respect and respond. Thank you to the Town of Uxbridge for giving us permission to raise awareness in this way and keep the conversations going.
We are so grateful to local Uxbridge businesses who were able to quickly donate orange ribbons. Baldwin Sales, Keith’s Flowers and Sugar FX made it possible via Curb Side Pick Up. We offer sincere thanks to everyone who came out to help. We continue to ask everyone to find their own way to acknowledge 215 by taking action now.
Write to your Provincial MPP and your Federal MP to encourage them to act on “THE 94 CALLS TO ACTION” as recommendations from The Truth and Reconciliation Commission more than 5 years ago.
