EPSOM & UTICA by Faye Ashton – Oct 17, 2019
Sorry for the error in the church beef supper date last week but since then we have CANCELLED the beef supper. We, by accident, scheduled it on the same evening as Celebrate Agriculture at the community centre at Port Perry. Since agriculture is very important to many of us in this community we couldn’t manage to attend two things on the same day and time. We will try to put something together soon to take the place of this supper. We are thankful to hear that Donna Barkey was allowed to be home from rehab for Thanksgiving with her family and that in a week’s time, she will be well enough to be back at home. Come and “light up” the Hillman Cemetery on the last Wednesday of October and November from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Flameless candles will be available at the Utica United Church for people to place on monuments in the cemetery to celebrate our community and history. Each Wednesday evening, Epsom and Utica churches are open from 5 – 9 p.m. for prayer and meditation. Our sincere sympathy to Georgina Sutcliffe on the passing of her two brothers Roger and Lloyd recently, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Our prayers go out to Georgina and her family, who are long time residents of Utica. There is no church service at Epsom Church Sunday, October 20th, as the congregation will journey to Vroomanton to help celebrate their anniversary with the cluster of churches. Thanksgiving weekend is past, but after the glorious week of near perfect weather we just experienced and the beauty and bounty of this earth, we can’t help but give thanks for all the blessings we enjoy.
