This unpredictable weather and the weather warnings caused several cancellations including the church service Sunday morning.
On Saturday, the 39th annual Robert Fletcher Bonspeil was held by the Blackstock Curling Club at the Port Perry Club. Much visiting and fellowship was enjoyed. At the close of the curling the draw to the button was held with Debbie Shrowler winning the prize. After grace by Mike Marks a delicious dinner was enjoyed. Diana Fletcher, Bob’s daughter thanked the club for continuing the bonspiel and presented the trophy to Ron Vivian and his team. Close behind was Mike Marks and his team. The other prize winners were the teams of Mike VanCamp, Milt Daking, and Tena Jenkins. Everyone went home after a very enjoyable day.
Reserve March 24th for a March Madness Dance co-sponsored by the Curling Club and the Lions Club. Music will be provided by Steve Waters and his Cartwright Boundary Band. For tickets call Connie at 905-986-4913, or Doug at 905-926-4913. This will be a great time to celebrate the end of winter.
On Sunday afternoon Blackstock was well represented at Dr. Robert Allin's retirement party, which was held at the Scugog Library. Dr. Allin has recently retired after a long time serving the people of this area. This was attended by relatives, colleagues and friends, best wishes Doctor.
Karen Kadowaki and her two daughters Allison and Janice, Julie Obsefted, and Sharon Sargeant competed in an adult synchronized skating competition in London over the weekend.
