Port Perry Farmers' Market to open their 2023 season this month

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Port Perry Farmer's Market is set to return for another season, starting Saturday, May 20th.

The lakefront farmer's market, which has become a staple of the Port Perry community, will be returning to its regular location, next to the Old Mill and Palmer Park.

"We enjoy the location. It's beautiful," new market manager, Sam Bochel told councillors, at a meeting, in April.

Last year, the farmer's market welcomed over 16,900 visitors and gave out over 2,500 reusable grocery bags.

"I'm really excited to see what we can do for this year," Ms. Bochel said.

This year, the farmer's market is extending its hours of operation, to close at 3 p.m. on Saturdays, rather than at 2 p.m.

The has been done, "just to accommodate some people, [who] like to do brunch and get their coffees [later]. That way, you don't feel you're under a time crunch for 2 p.m.," Ms. Bochel explained.

The farmer's market will end its season on October 7th.
