Durham remains in current stage of restrictions, while others move into stage 2

DURHAM: So far, Durham Region is not in provincial plans to go to a modified stage 2 restriction condition. Late last week, the Ontario provincial government announced York Region would join Ottawa, Peel and Toronto being put under modified stage 2 restrictions. However, earlier in the week, provincial officials stated there were currently no plans to have Durham join them. “I always sit down with our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Williams, and the command table, and get their input, as I did on Friday. I’m just praying we don’t have to expand this, and everyone just keep following the protocols and let’s get these numbers down,” Premier Ford said, at a press conference on Tuesday, October 13th. The modified stage 2 restrictions don’t allow indoor food and drink service in restaurants and bars or real estate open houses to be held, and includes the closing of indoor gyms and fitness centres, casinos and other gaming centres, and movie theatres.
