On the evening of Wednesday, December 21, 2016, My daughter had finished her work and was almost home and was the victim of a hit and run accident.
As her and her friend slowed to enter their driveway off 7A, a white truck travelling North on Ash street, Port Perry, did not stop at the sign but continued through the stop sign T-boning her vehicle. As air bags deployed the truck fled the scene of the accident.
Both Durham Regional and OPP will continue to search for this person.
This individual fled the scene not knowing what trauma they left behind, what injuries they caused, how many people they left at an accident scene. They did not give 911 a chance to look after injured family members at the scene.
What kind of person does this? How does one explain this to the rest of their family when in fact they do get caught.
What a tragedy to have to live with through this Christmas season.
Personally I could not live with myself knowing I had caused injury and done nothing to help people out.
My injured daughter, a single mother of 2 is not having the Christmas she had planned with her children only moments before being hit.
If you are the person who left injured people behind fending for their lives all alone, think twice before driving again.
Who ever you are please accept this responsibility and come forward. Wishing you and your family a better Christmas than my family will be having because of your actions.
