Special to The Standard
With Remembrance Day just around the corner, the Central Ontario Wolves Midget ‘AAA’ will be saying thanks to our troops, with a special event in support of the Poppy Fund, at their game at Scugog Arena, on Thursday, Nov. 8th.
To honour the sacrifices of the brave men and women in Canada’s armed forces, the Wolves will be wearing special military tribute jerseys, for their 7 p.m. match-up against the Peterborough Jr. Petes. In addition, the Wolves will be holding draws for an array of excellent prizes, as well as collecting donations in support of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Fund.
The Wolves were back in action over the weekend, with an extended layoff showing no signs of rust, as Central Ontario rolled to a 7-3 win over the Jr. Petes at Peterborough’s famed Memorial Centre.
Troy Bowditch opened the scoring in the first period, and the teams would trade goals in the second, with James White and Darcy Haupt scoring, to give Central Ontario a 3-2 edge, heading into the final frame. The Wolves would break the game open over the final 20 minutes, firing home four goals en route to victory, with Ben Addision, Justin Yakimishyn, Tayler Bidon and Haupt all lighting the lamp. Tyler Masternak earned the win between the pipes for the Wolves, making several sensational saves.
