DAN CEARNS The Standard
SCUGOG: Crossfit Scugog coach, Trevor Britton, recently won a gold medal in weightlifting at the Toronto Cup, held at the Toronto Pro Supershow.
Facing off with about 30 contenders, Mr. Britton was able to come away with a gold medal.
“It was nice. It was my first competition in almost two years, so I was just looking to get back on the platform and have a little fun,” Mr. Britton said.
Explaining to The Standard, he shared how he trained for the competition.
“I basically worked out five days a week, and all of my workouts were based around the two competition lifts.”
Mr. Britton further explained that coming in, the feeling was, the competition was his ‘to lose.’
“I saw the start list, and my numbers were quite a bit higher than anyone else in my weight class,” he said.
Moving forward, Mr. Britton has one goal.
“Try to get stronger. I’m going to start concentrating a little bit more on general strength and try to get back to my old numbers from the height of my competition days,” he said.
