KAWARTHA LAKES: The Lindsay Muskies got off to a slow start, in Wellington on Sunday afternoon, and although they fought back to make a game of it in the third, they came up on the wrong end of an 8-4 decision.
Although the Muskies were pretty heavily out shot in the first frame the score remained relatively close. The only goal came at the 11:13 mark, when Zach Uens converted a power play chance, with the assists going to Ben Woodhouse and Anthony Rinaldi.
The Dukes came out strong again in the second, and increased their lead at the 33 second mark, as Elijah Gonsalves scored, from Dylan Massie. Things stayed that way until 15:46, when Woodhouse made it a 3-0 game, with assists going to Frank Vitucci and Rinaldi. The Muskies got on the board, when Noah Vandervinne scored his 14th of the season, at 17:51, from Joey Campbell, but just 11 seconds later it was Jacob Vreugdenhil retoring the three goal lead, from Adam Usinger and Tyson Gilmour.
Again in the third the Dukes came out quickly, as Tim Fallowfield scored on a power play, from Gilmour and Massie, just 58 seconds in. Greg Arnburg’s 2nd of the season got the Muskies back to within three again, on a goal set up by Ethan Ramsden and Campbell, at 6:14, but at 7:24 the Dukes were up again by four, as Usinger scored from Fallowfield. The Fish kept fighting though and scored a pair, to get back into the match. Brennan Stapleton scored his 2nd of the season, at 13:24, from Brandon Carr-Ansah and Mathieu Hebert, at 13:24, then, just 35 seconds later, it was Campbell’s 7th of the year, from Ramsden and Arnburg, to make it 6-4. The Muskies pulled Dean Buchholz in favour of an extra attacker, with two minutes left in the third, but it didn’t work, as Fallowfield scored, from Vitucci. Rinaldi rounded out the scoring, squeezing one past Buchholz, from Rinaldi, with nine seconds left on the clock.
The next action for the Muskies is Friday night, when the Georgetown Raiders come to town.
