CRAIG SCHROTER Special to The Standard
LINDSAY: The Lindsay Muskies got a late goal from Cam Lamport to upset the Stouffville Spirit by a score of 2-1, Saturday night in Stouffville.
The Muskies got on the board first in this one, when Brett Poulin scored his 3rd goal of the season, from Kyle Diamond and Sam Ellwood at 8:39, and that lead would hold up until the midway mark of the third period. It was Connor Evans who tied the game at 1-1, with a goal from Thomas Tinmouth and Mitchell Waldron at 11:46 of the final frame, but then Lamport’s team leading 16th goal of the year came at 14:11, to give Lindsay a lead they would not relinquish. The helpers on the winning goal went to Brock Traill and Cam Robinson. Sean Green made 24 saves for the victory.
The win lifts Lindsay’s record to 12 wins, 22 regulation losses, and 3 overtime losses, and leaves them just two points behind Newmarket for the final playoff spot in the North East Conference. Both teams are in action Sunday with Newmarket facing Kingston, while the Muskies are in Markham for a 1:30 puck drop.
