CRAIG SCHROTER Special to The Standard
The Lindsay Muskies came up just short Sunday afternoon, falling by a score of 3-2 to the Markham Royals.
Sam Hu got the hometown Royals, at the 2:30 mark of the first, from Rylee St, Onge and Laine McKay, and the Markham lead was doubled at 14:23, on a goal from Lucas Condotta. That goal was assisted by Zach Grzelewski and Adriano Leone.
There was no scoring in the second but in the third the Muskies made it interesting. Cam Robinson scored his 16th of the season, to get the Fish within one at 9:34 of the period, from Brock Traill and Cam Lamport, but at 13:53 Leone scored for Markham, to restore the two goal cushion. That goal was set up by Condotta and Grzelewski. The Muskies were able to get goaltender Sean Green to the bench for an extra attacker, and it paid off when Noah Dollo scored his 7th of the year, from Brett Poulin and Dayton Kent at 18:40, but that was as close as the Fish would get on this day.
The Muskies are now off until Friday, January 13th, when they host the Wellington Dukes.
