Tuesday evening the "Trick or Treaters" were out in full force. Hope they had lots of fun and got lots of treats.
The annual turkey supper on Wednesday was a sold out success once again.
Many Seagravers attended the special birthday celebration for Karen Heustis. After the party, 10 of us went to Don and Marg Real’s home, for a visit and then the 12 of us went out for supper at Elmhirst Resort, on Rice Lake. Some Seagravites returned home for other commitments.
The greeters at the 121st Anniversary Service at Greenbank were Ted Smith and Carla Puckrin. Musicians were “Add Water and Stir”. Ted Smith introduced the guest speaker, Gordon Taylor, who is from the Claremont area. Gordon had “Sharing Thoughts” of the church’s history; these many good events send ripples that are acknowledged today. His message was entitled “Know When To Hold Them: Know When To Fold Them”. The service was recorded and can be listened to on the Seagrave website and hopefully the Greenbank website as well.
Happy birthday wishes to Muriel Tassie of Greenbank and Marley Cannon on the 2nd, as well as to Melinda Fish and Donna Wanamaker on the 6th. Happy anniversary to Elizabeth and Jack Redshaw on the 8th.
We now have a new full time minister, Stephanie Richmond. Starting January 1st, 2018 to June 2020. She is a “sweed”, which is a new person just out of his or her training. She spoke at our church on October 1st. She lives in Yelverton. She has three children and I believe some grandchildren. Her strengths are in preaching, working with young people, and she enjoys visitations. She will be ordained in May of 2020. She currently is doing ministerial work part time at the Lindsay Correctional Institute, once a month.
For those who save bags for the mat making at the church, the bags can be dropped off at Marlin Travel, 158 Casmir St., Port Perry; or at the Taylor residence, 10 Isabella Court., Seagrave.
Due to falling scrap prices the Park Committee has decided not to do a fall scrap collection, but hope to in the spring. The Committee is happy to report that the shingles have been replaced on the north dugout. We would like to send a big thank you to Goreski Roofing for donating the materials and thanks to our volunteers Mike Saccocci a and Mark Lewis.
