This time next week we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus, and for the children, they will be eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our readers and the staff of The Standard News, a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. May you all have a happy and safe holiday.
We know that there are some people having health problems and we send John Kent, Brooke Acton, and Hans Buscher get well prayers. Our thoughts go out to Bill and Edie Jansen. Their nephew was one of the workers in the hydro line helicopter crash.
The Sanctuary was beautifully decorated with poinsettias placed in memory of loved ones. Chris Acton welcomed all to the 3rd Sunday of Advent service. Tara and Terry Taylor lit the candle for the 3rd Sunday of Advent. Ministry of Music leader, Joan Lee, led the choir in some beautiful carols.
Ross Short, December 20th, and John Olivero, December 21th, visited the birthday box. Birthday Greetings go out to Don Beacock, December 29th, Rev. Richard Parker, December 31st, Richard Charron, December 31st, Betty Lou Beacock, January 1st, and James Hudgins, January 1st. Our thanks to Jane Pettinger who so graciously gave the Prayers of the Gathered Community.
Barb Martyn thanked everyone for being so generous with their donations to the homeless, the Scugog Food Bank, the Samaritan's Purse, and to the Special Family. This really is the little church with a big heart.
Belated 1st Anniversary wishes to Bill and Sue Short.
