We are in the third month of 2019, and I would like to think that March came in like a “lamb”. I sincerely hope that it doesn’t go out like a “lion”. Bring on spring.
This past week saw the passing of one of Port Perry’s great citizens, Mr. Bill Brock. He will be missed. The Seagrave Park Committee is busy working on plans for the Earth Day and Pancake Breakfast event on April 27th. We are super excited to have the Soper Creek Wildlife Program again, sponsored by Pinchin Ltd. You will not want to miss seeing the adorable animals they will bring. We will also be doing a scrap metal, electronics and bottle collection and new this year, we will be accepting clothing and bedding donations. All funds raised go to park improvements. Please follow our Facebook page for updates and more information.

The Greenbank Church hosted a “World Day of Prayer”, on March 1st, with a good attendance and an informative, enjoyable service. The World Day of Prayer is celebrated in 170 countries and the country that was chosen to honour this year was Slovenia. The message was “Come-Everything is Ready”, meaning come to praise, thank and proclaim the kingdom of Love. Greenbank also hosted a Lasagna Supper on Sunday, by the Evening UCW and was well attended with enjoyable food.
The Seagrave Church greeters were Donna Kent and John Olivero, who also read the scriptures. The Minute for Mission report was read by Tara Taylor. The Christ Candle was lit by Jonathon Feyen. The service was a 'Covenanting Service' to recognize all those that participate on committees, as well as those that are the chairpersons. Recognized also were those who have retired. A statement of purpose was given that pledged to carry out their responsibilities and duties, in the congregation, with integrity and joy. This statement was also in appreciation for everyone that attends service, and volunteers their time to help. Minister Stephanie’s message was about when Jesus took three disciples up the mountain, where they met Moses and Abraham. God appeared in a large cloud and said, “You are here to listen to Jesus. He is my voice”.
