Happy Anniversary to the following: Wyn and Wendy Hughes - June 3rd . Brett and Robin Drew - June 6th, Lee and Jim Baverstock celebrating their 60th, and John and Isabelle Vernon. Isabelle and John Vernon celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Seagrave Community Centre with family and friends last Saturday. Happy Birthday to John Kent on June 7th, and Geoff Luke on June 3rd.
The greeters at church last Sunday were Eleanor Sturman and Carol Coleman. Rick McAskill lit the Christ Candle, and visitors to the birthday box were Cathy and Ken Nix. The choir sang a lovely version of “Sometimes Hallelujah” and the Minute for Mission was read by Tara Taylor. The guest speaker was David Hooker, and did provided a dual role by also singing in the choir. The sermon message was entitled, “Walking the talk with the word”. David told the congregation that he is not a preacher, and not a teacher, but a seeker. He explained that of all the self-help books ever written, the greatest book is the bible. In 1455, the bible was printed for the first time on the 'Gutenberg' printing press, allowing it to become accessible to the public. Since that time, and including all the the editions that have followed, the bible has been sold over 6 billion times, because it has all the answers. David explained the “12 Disciplines” with power point, and the scriptures were read by Wendy Hughes. It is never too late to make a change, and choose to be with positive people. Believe and trust in God.
