What lovely fall weather we've had for a few days! Friday's rain was much needed, but gave way to a sunny weekend.
The 18th annual Soap Box Derby with 38 racers was fun and exciting for racers and spectators. The youth and other volunteers kept the racing cars lined up and refreshments ready. There was a ribbon cutting to reopen “Couves Park”, with its new playground items, plus one at Ianson Park, also a sun shelter, this was followed by picture taking and a celebration cake served. Funds go to trophies, equipment rentals, permits, food, etc. And further the parks upkeep.
The Derby coordinators Dave and Denise Bell, the volunteers, sponsors, and the young participants, all contributed to another successful community event. Great job folks! You are so appreciated!
Mike and Dianne Pelletier are happy to have Darryl back home safely. He was away for two weeks in South Florida with a work crew from Veridian Hydro, to assist in getting power grids back in working order, after hurricane Irma made a pass through Florida.
