Mother Nature did shine on Saturday for outdoor events that were taking place. The Greenbank Pavilion and yard, at the Hall, were busy with the ongoing barbeque and bake sale happening alongside with the Lions collection of scrap metal, electronics, batteries, and bottles for their fundraiser. The fundraiser was most successful, and at church on Sunday, Canyon Myers, on behalf of his mother Juli, father Tim, and sister Faith, thanked all for the support and caring demonstrated by these events. May better health come Juli's way, and to others who are ill.
The greeters at church last Sunday were Tim, Canyon, and Faith Myers. The Christ Candle was lit by Briar Smith, who turned three years old on May 11th, assisted by his mother Holly. Minister Stephanie welcomed guest organist Tom Baker of Uxbridge, and the choral anthem piano accompaniment. Tom Baker provided beautiful music and the choir's anthem, a more modern rendition of “For the Beauty of the Earth,”was lovely. Their participation made the Mother's Day service very special.
The children's story time described a mother's love, based on this lesson in the book, “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The children listened to the story and sang along with the rhymes. Minister Stephanie's message was inclusive and descriptive to all mothers, from all walks of life, and from the past to the present. Margaret Ann Lamb read the scripture quoting from Acts chapter 9, and John chapters 10 and 19. Later, the children distributed carnations, and then attended Sunday School.
