Congratulations to Tanya Scott who received the Volunteer of Distinction Award, representing Epsom Public School at the Durham District School Board celebration Award Ceremony, on Thursday Evening. Congratulations to Teena Evans Wootton, a former Epsom Public School student, who also received this award from Prince Albert Public School this past year.
This past Thursday evening The Epsom/Utica and Area Canadian Foodgrains Bank received the "Spirit of Agriculture" award as a volunteer group at the Durham Farm Connections Gala Evening, at the Scugog Recreation Centre. 150 Farm Families in Durham region were honoured with a sign indicating they have farmed in Durham region for at least 150 year, many have farmed even longer than that. Thank you Durham Farm Connections and sponsors for this great tribute to the farmers in this area. Thank you to Mary Evans and staff for a superb dinner.
The following words come from Rev. Brad and Jackie Medd: “This news comes from outside the Epsom & Utica area. Please bear with me. I am making the assumption that both Milton and Elaine read The Standard each and every time it comes off the press. Well it just so happens that I read it as well. I do have a connection with Epsom that started back in the 60's, that was when I first got to know the Medds, my cousins. Well as usually happens every friend, family members etc., usually go their own separate ways over time as the circumstances of life dictate. If I remember correctly both Milt and Elaine lived over my way, [Cameron, Fenelon Falls area] a number of years ago. I have not seen Elaine for many many years, but at one time visited Lawrence and the family on the farm outside of Sunderland a number of times. Thanks to The Standard and yourself, it was brought to my attention that the Rainey's have just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and as Elaine is my cousin, both myself and my wife Jackie send congratulations.”
Don't forget to buy and wear your poppy, and have a safe week. Email your Epsom/Utica news to email@example.com.
