I'd like to give a sincere "thank you" to everyone who supported the church's roast beef supper, and to everyone who helped with preparation of the food, set up, and clean up. This was a very successful event with good food and fellowship. A warm welcome goes out to Alex Jebson, the new student Minister for the Epsom-Utica United church. Alex will be our worship leader for the months ahead.
On Saturday May 4th, the 4H Exchange Club did a spring cleaning at the Greenbank Park. They would like to thank the Lions Club for supporting them in this endeavour.
Our sincerest sympathy goes out to Darlene Christie in the passing of her partner, Jim Green, on Monday May 6th. Jim and Darlene spent almost 30 years together. The candlesticks, in memory of Jeff and Mike, were lit at church in Jim's memory.
A memorial service for John Simpson will be held at the Trull Road Free Methodist Church, in Courtice, on Saturday, May 18th. Our condolences go out to his wife Dorothy, and the rest of the family. John's childhood was spent in the Pine Grove area alongside his sisters Marie Wilson, Lois Elford and Grace Evans. John died at the Bon Air Long-Term Care Residence in Cannington on Monday, April 29th, at the age of 95.
Fred Eaglesmith, a country singer and songwriter, will entertain at the Utica Hall on Friday, May 24th at 8 p.m. Tickets may be purchased, in advance, from the Meta 4 Art Gallery in Port Perry for $25, or at the door for $30. On Sunday, May 26th, there will be a fundraiser, at Boston Pizza in Uxbridge, to raise money for the Durham West 4H Exchange Club's trip to Alberta in July, and for the return trip of the Alberta Club.
The Breadalbane Presbyterian Decoration Service will be held at the Utica United Church on June 2nd, at 2 p.m.
The Kendall and Hillman Cemetery Decoration Service will be held at the Utica United Church on Sunday, June 9th, at 2 p.m. Doug Ferris will be the Minister, with Linda Hunter and Rita Stickwood providing the music.
Mark Sunday, June 16th, for Epsom's 143rd Anniversary and Utica's 148th Anniversary Service at 10 a.m. Please note the change of time.
The May meeting of the Bethesda-Reach WI will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at the Epsom Church at 7:30 p.m. The theme will be 'Back to Nature' with the speaker sharing tips for making soap. All are welcome.
The Epsom church is fundraising with Otters Greenhouse. When purchasing plants ask the cashier to put the total towards Epsom Church.
