Blackstock & District Lions Club
Congratulations to the UOIT Zeta Psi Campus Lions Club who put together an amazing Charter Night last Friday evening. The twenty-four members of the club are all members of the Zeta Psi Fraternity and are sponsored by the Udora-Leaskdale Lions Club. Since one of the former members of the Zeta Psi Fraternity was John McCrae, the members have memorized his poem, “In Flanders Fields”, which they recited for us as a group. We enjoyed an excellent chicken dinner, prepared by one of the members. We welcome these new Lions into our membership.
Saturday, following the annual Remembrance Day Service at the Blackstock Recreation Centre and a stroll up to the cenotaph, our Lions served a lunch back at the Rec. Centre, to those who came back to join us. It is always a pleasure to participate in the fellowship on this occasion.
Congratulations to Hayley Balson of Cartwright Central P.S., whose poster was selected to represent Blackstock & District Lions Club in the District Peace Poster Contest. Hayley’s poster was chosen from a group of 31 posters at the school. Thank you to Ms. Brownrigg for her participation in the Peace Poster Contest with her students.
