Blackstock & District Lions Club: Lions from all over our district will be attending the A-16 convention this weekend in Oshawa. If you happen to be in town on Friday afternoon, you may notice the Lions flag flying at the Oshawa City Hall. We always look forward to the displays and vendor booths, at the conventions, as well as the vision screening demonstrations, and of course, visiting with acquaintances. Kudos to the Oshawa West Leos who plan to collect non-perishables for the food bank. Thank you to Past District Governor, Susan Tate, who spoke to us about the Lions Clubs Camp Kirk Foundation, and its history and need for renovation. Lion Susan appreciated our donation to the Camp.
'Pitch-in Week' is upon us. We have organized a clean up of two parks in Blackstock; the Roy E. Carter Park, and the park between the Recreation Centre and the cenotaph. If you would like to help, we can always use an extra pair of hands. We're meeting at the Recreation Centre on Thursday, April 25th, at 9:30 a.m. Bring rakes and gloves if you would like to join us. At our next meeting, we'll be discussing how we can help with the funding for playground equipment at the Cartwright Central Public School.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 15th. The 13th Annual Durham Walk for ALS will held at the Port Perry Fairgrounds.
