Caesarea Nestleton Euchre
Our euchre club would like to send best wishes to Merlin Suggitt who is currently in hospital. Speedy recovery Merlin, you are missed, and we are looking forward to having you back with us soon.
39 people got together for an evening of "very high scores" euchre, where a score of 84 was not high enough to finish in the top 5!
Pat Currie came in first with a score of 102, congratulations on your amazing score Pat. Sheila Patterson was second with a score of 98. Jocelyn Bradbury finished third with a score of 92. Doug Day came in fourth with a score of 89, and Hazel Coates rounded out the top five with a score of 85. Most Lone Hands was shared four ways between Pat Currie, Heni Povey, Jocelyn Bradbury and Hazel Coates. Our bell ringer Norm Lackner had the low score.
Congratulations to all our winners and see you on Thursday.
Caesarea-Nestleton Euchre is held every Thursda, except holidays, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nestleton Community Hall; everyone is welcome.
Blackstock & District Lions Club
The 30th Musician’s Corn Roast was another successful event, this past Sunday, at Paul and Charlene Wasson’s home, on McKee Road in Blackstock. The music was most enjoyable and the food was plentiful. Little did the folks know that setting up their umbrellas for sun protection, actually was a good plan for when the rain came. Good to see MP Erin O’Toole, and PC Candidate Lindsey Park, drop by for a visit. The Lions of Port Perry and Blackstock thank everyone for supporting our food booths. The profits from the day will be well used in our respective communities.
We barely have enough time to dismantle and clean the barbecues before we need them for the Blackstock Fair on Saturday, August 26th, at the Fair Grounds. Thanks to Lions Rob and Carol, for taking care of this for us. After you’ve visited our food booth at the Fair, be sure to come into the arena to say hello, too. We’ll have a membership table set up with Lions brochures, to show you what we're all about. Our motto, “We Serve,” will be exemplified in October during Lions Service Week. Watch this column for more details.
We’re thinking of Lion Merlin Suggitt at this time and wishing him better health.
