A huge crowd of family, friends, former students, and staff, gathered at at the beautiful Nestleton Waters Inn, to honour Gord Paisley, on his ninetieth birthday. Al Delaney was an excellent M.C. for the activities. Gord’s daughter, Cathy Paisley, her children Sam and Julie, from Toronto; Cathy’s friend Grant, and his son Craig from Halifax; as well as Paisley family members from Dunnville, and London; were all present for this happy event. Happy birthday, Gord!
Another senior citizen celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday. Jack Green celebrated with a family gathering. Happy birthday, Jack.
Last weekend Peter Booth and Hazel Coates attended the Decoration and Memorial service, at Oil Springs Cemetery, where Peter’s relatives are buried. Unlike around here, they report very dry conditions there.
A record crowd attended the annual Strawberry supper on Sunday evening, where a delicious meal was served by the members of the United Church.
Catol Thirnton attended the Provincial convention of the Women’s Institute, held in Renfrew and the ACCWW also in the same general area.
The District W.I. will be holding its Strawberry supper at the Scugog Hall, in Port Perry, on Tuesday, July 4th. Entertainment will be provided by Dave Wotten. Everyone is welcome.
Several local families attended the Decoration Service at Pine Grove Cemetery, in Prince Albert, on Sunday.
Winners at the Tuesday evening card party were: Ivan McMillan, Henni Povey, Norm Lackner and Lorna Edgerton tied; Diane Norton and Don Trunks low. The winners of the specials were Ivan McMillan, Aila Morgan, Barb Brigley and Phil Sibbers.
