This continued rain is becoming serious for many sections of life. It has been the rainiest couple of months for 150 years. The crops so badly need sun and warmth.
Two local families are thrilled with the arrival of new granddaughters recently. Bob and Linda Kyte’s daughter Meagan, had a baby girl, as did Roy and Linda Bradburn’s daughter, Amanda. Congratulations to all of you.
At the Fair Board meeting, plans were made for an upgraded Demolition Derby, that should excite the audience. Watch for the posters, which will tell about the new entertainment for all ages. More horse classes will fill another void. Please mark your calendars for the derby, on the evening of August 25th, and the Fair on the 26th. More details will be coming.
Former residents Joan and Harvey Graham will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this Saturday, July 22nd, at the Blackstock Rec. Centre. It begins with a social time from 7 to 8 p.m. and a dance from 8 to 11:00 p.m. The Emily Creek Country Band will be playing.
Earle Trewin, and his brother-in-law Gord Bray, attended the auction of the world’s largest collection of Allis Chalmbers tractors, in Renfrew last week.
A group of 39 people came to play euchre on tuesday evening, at the church. Audrey Mahaffy came first, second was Wilma VanCamp, third was Audrey Geer, fourth was Elmo Gibson, and fifth was Ellen Gibson. There was a tie for low between Joan Sage and Peter Booth. The specials were won by Lorna Edgerton, Lawrence McLaughlin, Doug Day, and Audrey Mahaffy.
