Uxbridge eyes support for library improvements

UXBRIDGE: Councillors recently endorsed a proposal that will see the township seek a Rural Economic Development grant towards the Uxbridge Public Library that will include streetscaping, landscaping and minor capital projects.

Director of Community Services and interim Library CEO Amanda Ferraro recently presented the plan to councillors, which will include beautification, Wi-Fi and wayfinding signage at the Uxbridge Library up to a maximum project cost of $30,000.

Under the terms of the proposal, beautification would include creating an Atrium at the front of the Library with outdoor lighting, street furniture, and free Wi-Fi, as well as creating a new public space at the rear entrance of the Library with outdoor seating and tourism information. The project would also create free Wi-Fi space in the new Atrium, as well as a possible media centre at the improved rear entrance for tourism information. The wayfinding signage would expand on the existing Tourism Ambassador program, with added signage for the Library, washrooms and tourism information.
