The Artist Within

by Lauren Walker

What a year! I am so excited about my personal success. The support from my community has been amazing.

In September, I had my first artwork accepted into the Scugog Arts Annual juried show. I was so excited to be featured and much to my surprise, my piece “Chasing Bubbles” sold as well.

I had my first solo show at the Town Hall Theatre in November of this year. Thank you to those who came. It was a lot of work, but it was a success. I couldn’t have done it without the help of many people. You know who you are. There are so many unsung heroes who helped make this happen. My Fundraising print “Port Perry Railway, 1912” is available for purchase at The Framers Gallery. Proceeds go to help fund the “Reshaping the Future” initiative at Town Hall Theatre.

I created the “Christmas in Port Perry” ornament, which has already sold out. Thanks to Colleen from the Standard, who let me post it in my previous article. Thank you to those who purchased my ornament.

My next show is at the Kent Farndale Gallery in the Scugog Library. The opening reception is Saturday, January 7th starting at 2 p.m., to which you’re all invited. I will be there so, please come and say hello. My display will be up from January 7th to February 3rd. It’ll feature all the originals from my series “Old and New: Buildings of Port Perry.” I sincerely thank those who purchased my work and kindly loaned it back for my show in January.

Another adventure is in the works, and I may be partnering with a local photographer, so stay tuned.

Happy painting!
