SEAGRAVE by Barb Martyn

This year Canada Day, July 1st, was celebrated differently. Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of July 1st, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act 1867, then called the British North America Act 1867. The Act united three separate colonies into a single Dominion within the British Empire, called Canada. It was renamed Canada Day in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Our maple leaf flag was made official by a proclamation from Queen Elizabeth II, on January 28th, 1965. George Stanley designed it and is a symbol recognized worldwide. Hold your heads high, we are proud Canadians. Earl and Joan Durward have reached a special milestone, they celebrated their 50th anniversary on Friday, June 26th, congratulations. Happy Birthday wishes to Marjorie Chambers on July 6th, and to John DeBono on July 10th. Happy Anniversary wishes to Betty Lou and Don Beacock on July 6th. The Seagrave and Greenbank outdoor food banks are open every day. The Seagrave food bank needs the following: juice, kraft dinner, soups, tuna, salmon, cookies, crackers, canned fruit and veggies (we have plenty of corn), toiletries, soap, shampoo, and coffee. Please check the expiry dates. If outdated we cannot use it. June 28th was the 4th Sunday after Pentecost. This is a Sunday of welcoming and sharing. Jesus invites us to welcome others and share. During these times, this is a lesson we have been doing, sharing our stories, showing kindness and caring for others. We are working together. If you wish a personal prayer, grocery or medication pickup, to submit a photo of how you are keeping active for our Sunday Virtual Service Coffee Hour, or just to chat, contact Minister Stephanie at gspastoralcharge@gmail.com or by phone at 905-718-8086.
