BROCK: The Township of Brock is rejoicing after learning former Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden’s name has been approved by the Region of Durham for use as a future street name.
At a meeting on Monday, April 19th, Brock councillors saw correspondence from Region of Durham Planner Carla Acosta stating their request made in late February to add Debbie Bath-Hadden to the street name reserve list had been approved.
“That’s a wonderful tribute. I’m glad we got approval. Councillor [Cria] Pettingill and I both like the idea of [naming a street] Debbie Bath-Hadden Way,” Ward 5 Councillor Lynn Campbell said.
Mayor Bath-Hadden passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
Regional Councillor Ted Smith requested township staff to get a list of all approved future street names.
“We’re certainly using up street names faster in the last few years than we ever used to. To the best of my recollection, we only had 14 or 15 which were on the list for Brock, and the Region [of Durham] does not want duplications in new names,” Councillor Smith explained.
