EPSOM & UTICA by Faye Ashton

We’re experiencing a real old-fashioned summer with extreme heat and humidity, and for us here on this farm, no rain either. The second cut hay is put away, the wheat combined and straw baled, and the corn is still begging for rain so it can mature properly.

Wishing congratulations to all celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this August, whether just another year or a special occasion. May the memories you have experienced through the year be a special reminder of the blessings each one of us has enjoyed.

This past week Amy Postma was involved in a very serious car accident which resulted in a broken neck, ribs and shoulder. She is still in a reduced ICU unit at Sunny Brook hospital in Toronto, and as we all know how the power of prayer heals, we are praying for a complete recovery. Amy’s parents, Gord and Jill, brought their young family to live on Medd Road in the late seventies and have since moved but keep in touch with friends in the area. Gord and Jill, Amy and husband Casey, our thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

It’s a joy to see the Ferrport Jazz Ensemble sharing its talent in many communities. Doug graciously shared his ministry at Epsom church as a lay speaker several times over the past several years, and we thank you. On Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., the group will entertain at Palmer Park at Port Perry.

Join friends at Glen Major Church as they continue their summer services at 7 p.m. during August.

Please join the congregation at Epsom United Church as we are back at worship with Rev. Edith Ann, with a baptism on Sunday, August 28th at 10 a.m. Fellowship to follow.
