Drive-by Thank You Ride brings smiles and cheers

“A Thank You Ride By” in support of Health Care and First Responders took place on Friday, April 18th, at 6:30 p.m., in Port Perry. It was organized by Craig Beacock and Donna Herold. Well over 100 vehicles participated in the event, including 2 ambulances, a food truck, 2 cruisers, volunteer fireman and a Tim Horton’s truck. Many of the vehicles sported balloons, flags and signs expressing their appreciation and support for our frontline workers. The parade drove from Emmanuel Community Church and the Scugog Community Recreational Centre, down to Simcoe Street, past Port Perry Villa, and ended at Lakeridge Health – Port Perry. Vehicles drove up to the main entrance and around to the emergency entrance. Many people were on the lawns banging pots and waving, waving from their windows, and nurses and doctors outside waving in gratitude at the villa and hospital. Thank you to the organizers and all those who participated. It was an emotional experience.
