Celebrate your micro-wedding with the Uxbridge Historical Centre

COURTNEY McCLURE, for The Standard

UXBRIDGE: Are you planning a wedding for 2022? The Uxbridge Historical Centre (UHC) can help you plan a micro-wedding for next year. A micro-wedding is a small wedding ceremony. The UHC can hold 12 to 25 people for your micro-wedding event, bring your outfits and rings, and they will take care of the rest.

According to the curator and manager of the UHC, Jessica Lanziner, the staff at the UHC have been debating hosting micro-weddings for several years. The UHC has been a wedding venue for many years and wanted to promote it before the pandemic.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the UHC staff realized it allowed them to develop an option to host smaller weddings using their facility. “Micro-weddings have been really popular in Toronto and the GTA for a long time,” said Ms. Lanziner. “So, what we wanted to do was make that experience out here.”

They have partnered with local vendors, caterers, and hairstylists, including a local wedding planner, to help host micro-weddings for interested parties.

“We are really excited to be working with her on this!” exclaimed Ms. Lanziner.

Wedding Planner Lauren Hughes, from Uxbridge, is the owner of ‘Celebrate with Lauren Hughes’. Ms. Lanziner and Lauren Hughes handle most of the event planning.

The dates are pre-set and have different time slots.

“It’s quickly becoming something people are really interested in,” explained Ms. Lanziner. “And we’re seeing the spots fill up.” There are four dates the UHC has available for next year and three spots per date.

The dates include June 19th, July 10th, August 14th and September 25th, all for next year, 2022.
