A change of plan

Most of you know I had started a new job in September. Through a lot of soul searching I decided the position just wasn’t for me.

I want to thank my coworkers, especially for being kind and supportive women. We all experience change, that doesn’t always mean it’ll turn out the way you want it to.

Working with children takes a special ability and an unparalleled amount of patience. I admire the teachers I worked with and their

dedication to helping students. Whether it is a career choice or a relationship, we do not set out to fail. Our goal is to be successful. It’s not always what we picture in our mind. I have learned, sometimes it is much more challenging than we anticipate. There certainly no shame in admitting you made a mistake.

Why the sudden change?

My co-workers probably didn’t know I was feeling this way. I had a hard time admitting to myself I was struggling. I noticed a change in my mood and my overall attitude. I suffered panic attacks for the first time in my life. While the incidents were very scary, it also opened my eyes. It’s OK to change a situation if it’s negatively impacting you. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is, it’s OK to talk about your feelings and reach out for help. My boss said, “You owe it to your self to find something that makes you happy.”

When your circumstances affect your emotional, mental and physical well being it’s time for a change. Your circumstances should add joy to your life, and I hope you find what makes you happy. Don’t be afraid to take a chance even if it means making a mistake. Here’s to the journey ahead.
