Happy New Year!
The start of a new calendar year is a time for everyone to embark on exciting opportunities, overcome challenges, and set new goals; the Township of Uxbridge is also doing this.
Council has been working hard to set the 2019/2020 Budget. Once this is passed, towards the end of January, we can embark on some new projects and initiatives, as well as continuing the great work staff is already doing.
Through collaboration, Council hit the ground running and is planning to tackle a number of leading issues for residents, over the next 4 years. We will soon complete our strategic planning for 2019 and beyond. We hope to see further plans for a new Uxpool and other recreation facilities developed at the Fields of Uxbridge. We plan to implement solutions to make our roads safer to travel upon. We want to keep our already well-maintained infrastructure in good shape, and repair and replace the infrastructure that requires upkeep. This, of course, means ensuring the Brock St. Culvert replacement project is well-managed and successfully completed with as little disruption as possible.
I, and my fellow Councillors, look forward to working with our dedicated volunteers, on Boards and Committee’s of Council, on new projects and ways to improve our community.
Make it your New Year’s resolution to stay informed, through our social media or website, or through the local paper and radio station, about the projects and plans the Township will undertake on behalf of our community. Reach out to your Ward Councillor, if you have a question or a concern. Together, we can accomplish a lot in the next year, and through this term of Council.
We will have challenges, but that is part of growth. I am very much looking forward to the challenges and growth we will experience in 2019. On behalf of the Township of Uxbridge Council, I wish you all the best for the New Year ahead.
Dave Barton, Mayor
