Dear Sir: Re: “Letter to the Editor”, December 14

Irene N. Thompson writes that “Council wants to bump Spring Blvd (on the Island) up on the road paving list, even though it doesn’t meet the criteria to do so. There are far worse roads in this Township that should be done before Spring Blvd. However, it is in Councillor Kett’s neck of the woods …”

I defy Ms Thompson to find a “far worse road” in the Township than Spring Boulevard. I would urge any readers, who are not especially concerned about subjecting their vehicle to a thick coat of mud and possible alignment damage, to drive over and see for themselves.

I have lived on Spring Boulevard for over two decades and have paid well into six figures in property taxes. In that same time residents of, what we not so affectionately refer to as, “Spring Ditch” have paid many millions in property taxes. We have consistently been told that our so called road was not a priority.

So, far from singling Councillor Kett out for opprobrium, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him, along with all but one of the other councillors, for appropriating money for some decades overdue work on our road. He will certainly have my vote if he decides to stand for re-election.
