DAN CEARNS The Standard
SCUGOG: Ultimate Artists Live is bringing two tribute shows to Port Perry’s Town Hall 1873 later this week.
On Friday, November 10th, at 8 p.m., Ultimate Artists Live is going to be presenting The Tragically Hip Tribute Show.
Performing in the show is band ‘From The Hip’.
The show comes after the death of Gord Downie, on Tuesday, October 17th.
“It’s a coincidentally timely show. We had this planned before Gord’s death,” Ultimate Artists Live’s Shamus Black said. “We’ve done some Hip shows before, but they might be more ceremonious after his death.”
Tickets are $38 and can be bought online, at www.townhall1873.ca, or by calling the box office, at 905-985-8181.
One night later, on Saturday, November 11th, Ultimate Artists Live will be presenting a Neil Young Tribute Show, at 8 p.m.
“This particular tribute was here a year ago and it was very well received,” Mr. Black told The Standard. “People were saying they wanted this show brought back again.”
Tickets to that show are $35 and can be bought online, at www.townhall1873.ca, or by calling the box office, at 905-985-8181.
Ultimate Artists Live has been bringing tribute shows to Port Perry for nearly three years.
“Ultimate Artists Live, in a nutshell, recreates the experience with the authenticity, and that translates to trying to nail down the look and the sound of the hits,” Mr. Black said.
He also said the company works hard to try and give people the best experience.
“With our tribute shows, we are very strict with our display. We want people coming out feeling like they saw the best tribute. We are very picky when it comes to the sound,” Mr. Black said. “Often times, we’ve had people saying how amazing the reproduction was.”
Recently, the company has elevated its approach, and is bringing artist Liona Boyd to Port Perry, in December.
