Need ideas for how to decorate your home this Christmas? Come to the Uxbridge Rotary Christmas Home Tour, to view some professionally decorated houses, on Sunday, November 12th.
The self-guided tour features seven homes, and one historical site at the Uxbridge Museum. There is a variety of different types of homes on the tour, some of the houses include a large estate, bungalow, and century home.
“It’s a fun time out, if you’ve never explored Uxbridge, it’s a great opportunity to visit the town and surrounding areas and get a flavour for what we do here,” said Fran Taylor.
She added, “Many of our guests are from out of town, they come from Toronto, Barrie, Peterborough, Lindsay, and from all around the area,” They travel all the way to Uxbridge to see the beautifully decorated homes.“Those folks can buy their tickets online and pick them up at Wooden Sticks the day of the tour,” Fran offered.
The Rotary Club of Uxbridge takes great pleasure in hosting the tour and kicking off the Christmas season.
“As rotary we enjoy doing the tour, because it does kick-start the Christmas season for our retailers in town, restaurants, and all the businesses,” Fran said, “[They] enjoy the fact we have the tour, it promotes Uxbridge, and that’s one of the reasons we have a historical site each year on the tour, because we want to bring awareness and tourism to Uxbridge.”
The money raised from the tour goes towards funding the Rotary Club’s charitable initiatives in the Uxbridge community, as well as internationally.
Some of the local organizations the Uxbridge Rotary Club supports include: the Uxbridge Youth Centre, Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario, Uxbridge-Scott Historical Society, and Uxbridge Food Bank.
There are a couple rules for people who attend the Rotary Christmas Home Tour, such as no children and no photography of the houses.
Fran encourages everyone to buy tickets early, they have sold out the past two years in a row, and sales are capped at 1000 tickets. Hardcopy tickets are currently available for purchase, at the Canadian Tire in Uxbridge, Presents Presents Presents, and the Blue Heron Bookstore.
Alternatively, tickets can be purchased online at: http://uxbridgechristmashometour.ca/tickets/ and picked up the day of the tour, from Wooden Sticks Golf Course, on 40 Elgin Park Drive, in Uxbridge.
“It’s just a great day out, it’s $25 [for tickets] and it goes to a great cause, you get to see properties and homes that you wouldn’t normally have the chance to see, that have been professionally decorated,” Fran said.
