SCUGOG: Council has decided to sign a five year deal with Le Luu, to operate the concession booth at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre.
The decision was made at a meeting on Monday, May 8th. Under the terms of the deal, the Township will be paid $12,650 annually, for the first two years of the contract, and following those two years the lease payments will be adjusted to the yearly cost of living increases. Le Luu currently operates the booth at the Uxbridge Arena.
“During the process, when we were discussing all of the different scenarios with the merger of the two hockey leagues and talking with staff over in Uxbridge, they had contacted us and asked if we were interested in contracting out our booth through their vendor,” Craig Belfry, the Township’s manager of recreation and culture said, adding the township has tried in the past to find an operator for the booth, through request for proposals, but has not been successful.
Mr. Belfry told councillors Le Luu is planning to acquire a Country Style franchise brand for the booth.
According to Mr. Belfry’s report, the booth has failed to make a profit the last three years it has been run by the township.
“We were really excited when approached by an experienced arena vendor,” Mr. Belfry said.
