DAN CEARNS The Standard
SCUGOG: Caves is one of the bands that will be performing in Port Perry’s Palmer Park for the Canada Day celebrations, on Saturday, July 1st.
“It’s an honour to be asked [to perform] and it is something I have had circled on our summer schedule for a while,” said one of the band’s founders, Josh McCabe. “It’s an honour to be able to celebrate the 150th anniversary of my country in my hometown.”
Mr. McCabe was born in Scarborough, Ontario, but moved to Port Perry at the age of six. He attended R.H. Cornish Public School and Port Perry High School.
The band started in 2013. Josh explained the band’s music style.
“There’s indie rock vibes with a little bit of folk in it. There’s also heavy inspirational vibes from my life growing up in church,” he said. “I like to say we are rock and roll though.”
Mr. McCabe said the band will play some new songs, as well as a Johnny Cash cover at the Canada Day performance.
Caves will perform at 5:30 p.m. in Palmer Park. For more information about the band, visit www.wearecaves.com.
