SCUGOG: Old Flame Brewing Co. will be hosting Port Perry’s first craft beer festival later this month.
The festival will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15, as part of the Durham Festival, and will take place from noon until 8 p.m. at Old Flame Brewery, located at 135 Perry St. Perry St. will be blocked off from the edge of Mary St. to the edge of the parking lot behind the Brewery to host the event. Tickets for the festival are $10 per person and can be bought in advance, or on the day of the event at the brewery.
“Originally we were going to host it just in our own parking lot, but we found that there wouldn’t be enough room,” said Old Flame owner Jack Doak.
There will be a total of eight craft brewers on hand for the event; four will have displays in the front of Old Flame, and four more in the parking lot at the rear of the building. Mr. Doak added that there will be food vendors on site, as well as local bands or artists performing throughout the day. He also said this event is a great way to market the local brewery to the community.
“We wanted to do a little more of a launch this year,” Mr. Doak said. “The brewery will host it this year and hopefully it grows from there.”
Regional Councillor Bobbie Drew said she thinks this festival is a good time to showcase the brewery to Scugog residents.
“It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our local brewery who has just received national recognition,” she said.
