SCUGOG: With the approach of spring, a person may be sure of several things: birds will be singing and pancakes will be flipping, at the 44th Annual Maple Syrup Festival, at Purple Woods Conservation Area in Oshawa. Central Lake Ontario Conservation (CLOCA) will be hosting the Festival, starting on Friday, March 8th.
The dates of the Festival are as follows: Spring Break: March 8th to 10th, and 13th to 17th; and weekends March 23rd/24th, and 30th/31st. The Festival will be closed on March 11th/12th. More information and tickets are available at pwmaplefest.com.
Tribute Community Days are back again with half price admission, on advance AM Tickets, on March 8th and March 23rd. Advanced General Admission tickets are available online, at pwmaplefest.com, or at the CLOCA Admin Office, 100 Whiting Avenue, Oshawa, during business hours, at a cost of $6/person (HST inc.). Children 2 and under are free. It is strongly advised, visitors purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Only a limited number of General Admission tickets will be available at Purple Woods, at a cost of $7.00/person (HST inc.) (Debit and credit card only). Please note, General Admission tickets do not include pancakes or horse-drawn wagon rides.
As always, visitors will enjoy a memorable and affordable family experience at the annual Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival. We showcase 400 years of the maple syrup history in Ontario, through interpretive displays. The Heritage Hall provides a rustic indoor heated gathering place, to enjoy pancakes covered in 100% maple syrup, and the Heritage Store will be open to satisfy your sweet tooth with maple syrup, maple treats and so much more. We offer lots of free, hands-on activities, games and crafts for the kids and kids at heart.
For a $2 fee, one can enjoy fresh maple taffy on ice, on the weekends, or a horse-drawn wagon ride offered daily, down by the Sugar Shack. Enjoy some maple taffy!
If the trails are too challenging for you or those with physical limitations, a shuttle service for individuals is available. Please inform staff when you arrive, if you require this service.
