UXBRIDGE: A suspect, in a break and enter in Uxbridge, attempted to disarm a police officer, as he was being placed under arrest.
On Saturday, Aug 6, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police were called to a residence, on Highway #47, where the homeowner had witnessed a male attempt to break into his home, using a garden hoe.
Air 1, the police helicopter service, located the suspect a short distance away and directed officers to his location.
After a foot chase, officers caught up to him. The suspect fought with officers, attempting to disarm one of them, in the struggle.
Pepper spray and a CEW were deployed, but were ineffective. After a 10-minute conflict, officers were able to subdue the suspect.
The 25-year-old male, from Brock Township, was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then for a mental health assessment.
