NORTH DURHAM: Amy Stevenson has assumed the role of board President, with Tara Rosen as Vice President, and Melinda Diebel as Treasurer. Susan Long will continue as board Secretary.
“Amy has been a key member of our board since 2012, and has been instrumental in helping us reach our goal of $1-million, toward building a new shelter,” said outgoing interim President, Elizabeth Williams. “As the organization winds down its fundraising and works with the Township of Uxbridge to oversee the build later this year, I am confident that, with the support of Susan, Tara and Melinda, the vision of our board and volunteers will be realized.”
“I am truly honoured to lead this incredible organization,” Ms. Stevenson added. “Our previous leadership has left NASUS in great shape, and it’s our job now to act as stewards for that work, and to think about how new organizations can leverage our community’s love of animals for the long term.”
Uxbridge native Amy Stevenson works in fundraising with Markham-Stouffville Hospital Foundation.
Board Vice President, Tara Rosen, has been a director since 2015 and is active in dog rescue in Uxbridge.
Melinda Diebel, the new Treasurer, is a Chartered Accountant and Chief Financial Officer for a manufacturing company. She lives in Leaskdale, and has been a director since 2016.
The New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge-Scugog is a registered charity that has successfully raised more than $1-million in donations and committed funds, to build a new facility for lost, abandoned, and neglected dogs and cats in the two townships.
